NewsBeastie Boys thrill LA crowd with classic tracksBeastie Boys rolled out old favourites and gave fans a taste of their new instrumental material at the second of three sold-out shows in Los Angeles last night (August 20). Dressed sharply in shiny dark suits, sunglasses and fedoras, the New York trio worked the crowd at the Greek Theatre with their thumping beats and call-and-response raps. "We played here last night, and tonight's crowd is kicking last night's crowd in the ass!" shouted Mike D, midway through their nearly two-hour set. In addition to backing from Mix Master Mike on decks and Money Mark on keyboards, two percussionists added Latin and jazz rhythms to their sophisticated new material. But it was the classics such as 'Brass Monkey' and 'Gratitude' that got the crowd roaring. "This is the adult section of the show -- it's gonna get a little raunchy," said Ad-Rock before launching into 'Time To Get Ill', during which they sang a verse from MIA's 'Galang'. A mixer malfunction left the Beastie Boys singing 'Intergalactic' a capella, and the crowd joined in until the mixer kicked back in for the final chorus. Beastie Boys are set to play an all-instrumental show focusing on their new album, 'The Mix Up', at the Los Angeles Wiltern Theatre tonight (August 21). Beck to release brand new single Beck has released new single 'Timebomb' both digitally and on vinyl. The track is available to download now or you can buy the vinyl on 12-inch on October 22. The self-produced single is his first release since album 'The Information' in October 2006. Speaking about the track, [a]Beck[/b] revealed it was "a song for bonfires, blackouts, and the last hurrah of summer". The singer added that he has no plans for any further releases this year. |
